Jordan Hospital Reflection

May 17, 2010

While I'm ending volunteering at Jordan Hospital for CAS I will still continue to volunteer when I can. Volunteering is something that I've done for the past 4 years and will be something that I continue to do when I have the free time. Over the years that I've volunteered I've learned so much about myself and about others as well. I've learned how to talk and communicate with strangers a lot easier because of the interactions that being a volunteer calls for. I've also learned how to be a leader and to use my skills in different ways. As a part of being committed to volunteering and being a volunteer for quite some time I earned the title as "Team Leader" which entitled me to make sure that the people who were supposed to come in came in and at the right time. I was also made responsible to make sure that the kids didn't misbehave in any manners and were doing the errands properly. Responsibility was also a main factor that I've learned from being a volunteer. Not only do I have to be responsible for others and for how I act towards patients and visitors, I also have to be responsible in the manner of following the HIPPA law and also taking care of the patients and errands that I had to run. In all volunteering was and is a great experience to show commitment to an activity and to also undertake new challenges.
