Sturgis Soccer

September 25, 2009

Today we had a game against South Shore Christian Academy at their field. Their field is in Hanover, for the most part, so we had to leave school pretty early. Before we got out for soccer I made sure that all of the girls went to their teachers and got the work that they would be missing. I don't want anyone to get behind or miss anything important because of soccer, as my coach is always telling us, school comes first so I knew that I had to enforce that as one of the leaders on the team.
I remembered this field from last year because it was the game that we played that determined whether or not we went to States. The one thing that I hate about their field is that it is also a football field. For the Sturgis girls it was quite difficult to play on sometimes because the lines were very hard to see. We found ourselves playing within the football field lines, which is a smaller field. When we got this out of our heads we began to improve, but in the end we still lost. One thing that we learned after the game, at least, is to improvise and learn to deal with what we have. Obviously we didn't have another field to play on, but we dealt with it as a team and did our very best.
