Jordan Hospital: Journal 6

February 21, 2009

Today I was the only volunteer that was able to go around and do the errands. There was one other lady names Cathy but she needed to stay at the information desk to answer the phones. I'm not sure where Alex was or why she wasn't there, but it was extremely busy for me. I think that I went back to the desk and sat down no more than 5 times. The entire time that I was there I was running around doing errands like bringing specimens to the lab, transporting patients, and bringing paperwork to different parts of the hospital from the Emergency Department.

Today I notice that it was difficult for the staff and visitors of the hospital because one of the main elevators was down. There are so many people that come back and forth using the elevator that just one working elevator is a hassle, but we managed to make it work. Most of the time I could avoid having to use the elevator because I could easily use the stairs (unless I needed the elevator to bring a wheelchair up or down.)

Next week I'm looking forward to Mike coming back from vacation and Alex coming in. When I'm the only person doing the errands its difficult and things are done in less time rather than if there are people there to help me.

This is the view of the whole hospital:
